Giving this challenge one last try. I really enjoy using vellum.
I need to incorporate it more often into my projects!
For this card, I stamped the Gladiolus image in Colorbox Frost White ink, then sprinkled with white embossing powder. I used my Dusty Concord Distress Ink and Waterbrush to fill in the flowers. The leaves are SU's Certainly Celery.
I stamped the sentiment with Fresh Ink's Lavendar onto the white cardstock. I adhered the vellum onto the white cardstock using my ATG gun. You can barely see the adhesive. I hope it stays invisible for a while. I've not had much success with vellum adhesive. This is a first for me.
I tried the same exact technique with this Pink card except I used clear embossing powder. You can barely see the difference, but in real life the flowers have a stained glass effect.
This last one was an oopsie. After I stamped and watercolored the image, I was trying to sew it to some white cardstock. However, right at the end, just when I thought I was home free, the sewing machine chewed up the vellum! So I just cut around the image and adhered it to some cardstock that I had already stamped and was laying around. Not too CAS, but thought I'd show it anyway. :)
Alright, I think that's it from me for this week. I have a ton of house projects lined up to do this week while the girls are in summer camp. Gotta stop procrastinating. See you all soon!!
Stamps: PTI Gladiolus
Ink: Various SU, PTI, Fresh Ink, Memento and Distress Inks
Paper: PTI
Misc:Vellum, Niji Waterbrush
All of these are just gorgeous, Susan. Beautiful job. The purple one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteAll three are gorgeous, but I think the third is my favorite--a happy accident! I used to use vellum alot--need to pull it out more often.
ReplyDeleteThese do look gorgeous Susan. I love the delicacy of inked vellum but rarely use it because of the adhesive showing but perhaps you have the answer? The third card IS a rather happy accident - I love the way the flower looks against the DP.
ReplyDeleteI love all three cards Susan, the painted vellum is gorgeous, shame you still cannot buy a totally invisible vellum adhesive....it must be do-able :0)
ReplyDeleteA least on your happy accident card the glue was easier to hide...love the text background for this card :0)
So glad you shared your creativity with us this week at CASual Fridays :0)

LOVE these cards! That painted vellum is such a beautiful technique, very classy :) Thanks for playing this week at CAS-ual Fridays!
ReplyDeleteSusan these are all gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThey have such a dreamy watercolor effect...
though I do think the purple is my fave!!
Perfect for a sympathy card...
they're so hard I still buy mine! :)
Susan, your oopsie is my favorite one though they're all gorgeous! I don't have many of the YOF sets, but you're making me wish that I did. The patience it takes to color them and cut them...I am lacking...but beautiful cards! Thanks so much for joining in the CAS-ual Fridays fun this week! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are all so gorgeous. And, I never would have guessed that your last card was an oopsie--it is really amazing.
ReplyDeleteWow, Susan, your use of vellum really gives your cards that extra something...its beautiful! I love the last one the best, that text in the back is the perfect touch :)
ReplyDeletePinned and perfect! I especially love the oopsie card with the flowers over the text! You used the ATG, huh? Interesting. I wondered about that, thought the texture of it and the vellum tape seemed a lot alike. I love using vellum, but the problems with attaching makes me shy away from it. Now, however . . . thank you!
ReplyDeleteOoh, these are beautiful, Susan!
